BBC: "Geoff Ward examines the strange life and terrifying world of the man hailed as America's greatest horror writer since Poe.
During his life, Lovecraft's work was confined to lurid pulp magazines and he died in penury in 1937. Today, however, his writings are considered modern classics and published in prestigious editions. How did such a weird, wild and ungodly writer get canonised? Among the writers considering his legacy are Neil Gaiman, ST Joshi, Kelly Link, Peter Straub and China Mieville." Listen here

Weiter

onpointradio.org: "We all know the story, delivered in grade school textbooks across the country, of how the universe began. The Big Bang. Fourteen billion years ago. Space and time and everything, exploding into being in a flash, and still exploding as celestial bodies race apart across the cosmos.
Well, maybe so. But the Big Bang theory has taken its lumps in recent years.
Now, renegade physicists are making a new case. That it didn't all start in an instant. That there is no beginning, and no end. And those are fighting words in the halls of science."

Blixa Bargeld spricht über Altes und Neues und über eine soziale Kraft, die niemals in Vergessenheit geraten soll...und es gibt eine DVD die schon jetzt ein Stück Geschichte ist."
MVD: "This performance was filmed on November 4, 2004 at the Palast der Republik in Berlin, the former Parliament building and symbol of the no longer extant DDR (East Germany). The Neubauten found the steel skeleton of the ruins of the Palast a congenial location for their architectural-musical fantasies and field studies. Accompanied by a 100 member choir, recruited from the supporters of the www.neubauten.org Internet project, they played in and with the building in their inimitable, almost literally building-collapsing fashion. Contains previously unreleased songs, band commentary and more."

But in reality, a lot goes on in Beijing, right under the "emperor's" nose. Today's Beijing is home to rock 'n' roll rebels, subversive artists and a livelier alternative cultural scene than in any other Chinese city." Listen here

"The Pew Internet and American Life Project has just issued a new report (PDF) on Wikipedia. According to the report, 36% of American adults consult Wikipedia. One of the more interesting aspects of the report is the amount of traffic to Wikipedia that's driven from search engines. The report cites Hitwise data that showed "over 70% of the visits to Wikipedia in the week ending March 17 came from search engines." This success must be one of the reasons that Wikipedia has announced they plan to launch a search engine." Download the report

It's not just cute "Hello Kitty" backpack purses and Pokemon, "pocket monsters." It's also the eerie "dead wet girls" of Japanese horror movies like "The Ring." In this hour of To the Best of Our Knowledge, we'll explore Japanese popular culture and find out why it's taken such a strong hold of the American imagination." Listen here
