Although of English and Canadian origins, Plastikman's Richie Hawtin is closely connected with the current Detroit techno scene associated with figures such as Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen, Eddie Fowlkes, and Derrick May. His Plus 8 label -- co-owned and operated with John Acquaviva -- is one of the most influential experimental dance music imprints, and Hawtin's own tracks recorded as Plastikman and F.U.S.E.. are highly regarded as faithful, intelligent, forward-stepping updates of the Detroit sound. Kid606's music is impossible to pigeonhole. Citing influences from Napalm Death to Modest Mouse to Joy Division, he spits out spastic, scatterbrained, and utterly beautiful electronic music. Born in Venezuela as Miguel Depedro, Kid606 now lives in San Francisco, where he runs the Tigerbeat6 label out of his comfy abode. In many ways, the style of Kid606's music mirrors the role he has established for himself (or been thrust into by the music press) in the electronic music scene. More

The BBC has published online a brief feature, with audioclips, about music experimentation, titled "Sex Drugs and Four Minutes of Silence." To borrow a now infamous bit of BBC phraseology, the title unnecessarily sexes up a story that stands on its on merits. It's an interesting collection of brief interviews, including the late John Cage recounting the epiphany he had as a result of entering an anechoic chamber, an entirely soundproof room. Mixmaster Morris (real name: Morris Gould) began his career as a DJ around 1982, spinning indie and punk music while attending college in London. As he continued, he expanded to experimental jazz and fusion artists like Sun Ra and Captain Beefheart. He also started to host one-man electronic shows, using loops and tapes to make hypnotic, ambient mixes. He began to work in London's pirate-radio scene, where he first gained the nickname Mixmaster Morris. More
One of my favorite radio stations is wfmu from New Jersey USA. Right now, I only found the time for listening to Donna Summer's show. But by researching for information or MP3 files of "WIRE-artists" I very often came across of further plalists of other wfmu radio DJs. And what's also remarkable, is the wfmu artist browser. It let's you search for certain artists. The results are links to shows in witch the artist is played. That's very handy, because most of the wfmu shows are archieved for listening. So from now on, I will also post links wfmu shows.

An installation artist and electronic music composer based in Stockholm, Sweden, Carl Michael Von Hausswolff has presented his minimalist-leaning audio-visual works in Europe and North-America. An active promoter of avant-garde art in the the 1980s and early 1990s through publications and record labels, since the mid-'90s he has been focusing on his own music, which has become growingly minimalist, a hour-long piece often consisting of the clever use of only a handful of sound sources. A live-streaming of the first event featuring the spectacular discographic project by the japanese Noise artist Masami Akita alias Merzbow: an encyclopedia of noise entitled "Merzbox", containing 50 CDs that, by using low-tech equipment in an anti-conventional way, create a flooding of the senses, negating the opportunities for sound to be distinguished. This collection of manifestations by the "King of Noise" dating from the years 1979-97 was played at the Kunsthalle exhibition "Yayoi Kusama" (www.kunsthallewien.at) in full length in a continuous listening session of approximately 60 hours, introduced and ended with a one-hour live act by Masami Akita.
Noisemakers Masima Akati -- a.k.a. Merzbow -- and Russell Haswell marked the beginning of their Satans Tornade project with this 1999 direct-to-tape recording. Word immediately began to spread, and the two have since revisited the project on several occasions. Those already familiar with Merzbow and Haswell will have an idea of what to expect on here: insane electro-grind, extreme computer music, a frenzy of white noise with little or no discernible melody or rhythms. And you'd be right. The magic of the two is how they constantly manage to reinvent improvisational electro-noise and to push the limits of what noise is and how it can be perceived.
<img src="www.antville.org" align="left"" hspace="3">There is no need to argue: Merzbow stands as the most important artist in noise music. The favorite moniker of Japanese Masami Akita appears on 100s of albums. The name comes from German artist Kurt Schwitters' famous work "Merzbau," which he also called "The Cathedral of Erotic Misery." Akita's choice reflects his fondness for junk art (through Schwitters' collage method) and his fascination with ritualized eroticism, namely in the form of fetishism and bondage. All these elements constitute the Merzbow persona.More

'ThinkToy' began as an experimental music project heavily centred around mixing fragmented media & music samples for the purpose of finding new ways to use music for positive change, general mental reflection or just plain stupid fun. ThinkToy adopts a Fair Use approach to music-making.
Kateryna Zavoloka is a musician from Kyiv city, Ukraine. This is her first release since three years of making music. The sound of Zavoloka is very impuslive mixture of rich and dense however sometimes abstract analogue and digital noises, melodies and idm like drums. Often unexpected music design and courses create an impression of body motion of a fighter in kung-fu drunken style. This rather short but very interesting release however called SUSPENZIA (in regards of Natalia Zhizchenko essay) that is "suspension" or "slip" in russian or ukrainian.
Many music videos tend to be about escape and illusion — the illusion of fame, wealth, sex, glamour and fantasy. The video for Johnny Cash's "Hurt" isn't about any of those things. It deals with a theme not so common in music videos:reality.
In the short history of music videos, few have had the emotional heft and visual impact of the clip shot by director Mark Romanek in the Tennessee home of the ailing country legend. More

Taking a page from seminal British post-punk outfits like The Fall and The Au Pairs and their American no wave counterparts DNA and The Contortions, Erase Errata sets off spastic, clattering rhythmic explosions with stridently barked vocals, wonderfully thin razor-edged guitar, a nervous low-end, rattling machine-gun percussion, and occasional keyboard flourishes and trumpet blasts. Sudden time changes and not-quite-linear song structures help make this abrasive din all the more intriguing. More
In her Paradise Island side project, singer/multi- instrumentalist Jenny Hoyston from Erase Errata explores the more abstract, avant-garde side of her music. Paradise Island's debut EP, Get Up, and the full-length Lines are Infinitely Fine, which were released in 2003 on Dim Mak, dabble in lo-fi electronica, folk, and off-kilter rock and pop -- pretty much every style except the angular brand of no wave-inspired music she plays with her main group.
I just have discovered, that the Altavista music search isn't working on the "Microsoft Internetexplorer". I'm using the Firebird (Mozilla)- Browser and it's working perfectly. I will have a look in the next few days.
<img src="www.antville.org"align="left" hspace="3">With plenty of musical history and an unfettered passion for contemporary club tracks Stefan Betke aka Pole is probably best known for his minimal dub sounds between the clicks and cuts of modern electronica.
While the origins of Pole hail back to the summer of 1996, when he accidentally dropped his near legendary "Walldorf 4-Pole" filter (which, in its newly damaged state, began to generate seductively unpredictable crackles), Betke’s musical playing field covers a much broader spectrum. More

Laurie Anderson enjoyed a public visibility greater than virtually any other avant-garde figure of her era. Her infrequent forays into rock aside, Anderson nevertheless remained firmly grounded within the realm of performance art, her ambitious multimedia projects encompassing not only music but also film, mime, visual projections, dance, and -- most importantly -- spoken and written language, the cornerstone of all of her work.
