Another product of Richard "Aphex Twin" James' Rephlex stable, Chris Jeffs' releases as Cylob and Kinesthesia have numbered among the Cornwall-based imprint's most celebrated recent releases. Not nearly as prolific as his friends and sometime-labelmates James and Mike Paradinas (µ-Ziq), Jeffs has nonetheless amassed an impressive catalog of releases in a relatively short period of time. Yesterday, while searching for more information about Maja Ratkje, I came across a very interesting jazz/electronica project, the " Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble".
It's one of the many side projects of Bong-Ra, a guy who usually does Drum & Bass and Breakcore. I didn't like this stuff of him, but I must confess, I didn't realy listen to it, because first I came across the "Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble" stuff, which I instantly fall in love for, and then after a while, I found out about the guy behind it.
I fond only one file, it's supossed to be live. It's a video file. I didn't wached it yet, I only listend to it.
I defenetly recomend "The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble"
Composer of orchestral works, composer of electroacoustic works, opera performer, free improviser and experimental electronica artist: Maja Ratkje was able claim all these titles before her 30th birthday. The Norwegian singer has been active on many fronts since the mid-'90s, winning composition prizes in her home country before starting to build an international reputation first as part of the all-female free improv quartet Spunk, then as a solo artist. Her first solo album, simply titled Voice, came out in late 2002. Her experimental singing has been compared to Jaap Blonk and Phil Minton, although her use of electronics and theremin in her performances set her apart.
This track is actually boring and stupid, but if you know the tv commercial (for Rügenwälder sausages) which is also weird in some way, then you may find it funny like I did.
I never liked Nirvana, although I was wearing plaid shirts the whole week and looked like the biggest grunge fan when Nirvana were still around.
This is a rare recording of the first ever live show that Nirvana played. It features Aaron Burckhard on drums and offers an interesting setlist. More info and download
Some 20 teens sued by the Recording Industry Association of America, which accuses them of unauthorized downloads, will appear in a Pepsi-Cola ad that kicks off a two-month offer of up to 100 million free — and legal — downloads from Apple's iTunes, the leading online music seller. The sassy ad, to be seen by Super Bowl's 88 million viewers on Feb 1, is a wink at the download hot button.

URL shorteners are a very handy tool. Let's say you want to send a very link to a friend. For example a link to a certain ebay item. usually very long links a broken into two parts in an email.
On the webpage of URL shorteners you can enter that long link (cut'n paste) and it will be transfered into a very short one. Some of them (like tinyurl.com) also offer a bookmarklet so you don't have to enter the link manually.
Aaron Dillaway, Nathan Young and John Wilson are the trio named Wolf Eyes. They talk about their early days in music, their town, their labels and “Degrassi, the Next Generation.” They say “at this point, we’re not as loud as we could be.”
It seems that each article from the WIRE mentioning artists from Michael Giras label "Young God Records" ca be found at the label homepage. For example, this huge interview with Michael Gira from WIRE #233.

... Mehr

Via backlink I found the nice weblog G3RM . By going through the content, I found a link to an interview with Alex Rutterford from 2002. I myself am a big fan of the "Gantz Graf" video and the cover artwork of "draft 7.30" he did for autechre.
By googeling for Alex Rutterford I realised that there is actually very little information availible about him. My own post on my weblog from May 2003 appears as #3 when you are looking for "alex rutterford" at google.
Berlin resident and multi-instrumentalist Frank Schültge Blumm describes himself as an "ear worker." Born in Bremen on July 16, 1967, Blumm studied music art, educational science, and classical guitar. His early projects focused on noise (Blumm's way of rebelling against the classical guitar), but his work became more structured once he became interested in radio plays. A move to Berlin in 1997 found Blumm collaborating more, most notably with Harald "Sack" Ziegler for the Sack & Blumm project, and his radio plays were being broadcast across Germany. Having already released records on the Staubgold, Gefriem, and Audio Dregs labels, Blumm came to most people's attention in 2001 when he released Mondkuchen, one of the only "acoustic" records on the generally electronica-leaning Morr Music. In 2002, Staubgold released his dreamy Ankern album. Taken from AMG
The latest issue (# 239) is giving me a very hard time to find any mp3 files. Right now, the first artist I was able to find any mp3 files, is FS Blumm. His new CD is reviewed in the soundcheck
