Zoomer by Schneider TM May be the year's most surprising pure pop pleasure--precisely because it's nothing like you'd expect a pop album to be. THE WIRE #224, p.61

SCHNEIDER TM is a one-man project out of nowhere, Germany. Coming from a Germanic background, this man and his music are not a million miles away from the bleeps-and-bloops-happiness of his fellow countrymen Mouse on Mars.

What makes Schneider’s record so special is that he doesn’t just stop at the bleeps and bloops, he dives headfirst into rattles, snaps, crackles and also occasional stumbles straight into not so straight pop. His music is directly and indirectly inspired by Velvet Underground, TV's Magum, cheap champagne, drumming in a rock band for several years and living in the countryside. More

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (HLN) - A Memphis woman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after she bludgeoned her boyfriend to death with an iPod.

"According to law officers, Mathers was hysterical when police arrived and told them that she killed her boyfriend only after he accused her of illegally downloading music and erased about 2,000 of her MP3s. Mathers complained that it took 3 months to build her music collection." More

I just realised that I completly forgot to post the "main link" this old posting. The Posting was about a guy who discovered, that there is an image of an diabolic face hidden in one aphex twin's tracks. The webpage seems obselete now, but there is a big article in the wired magazine about the whole story.

Despite a history spanning well over a decade, Ninja have never released a greatest hits style compilation…until now. Because this month Ninja Tune have released Zen - A Ninja Tune Retrospective. This is certainly a chance to remember some of those lost classics like DJ Food's 'Dark Lady' and the Cornelius Mix of Coldcut's 'Atomic Moog'.

Blockhead 'Carnivores Unite' Taken from Blockhead's debut album 'Music By Cavelight'. Aesop Rock's former producer stuns us with his beautiful instrumental hip hop.

Is there something as a "Hall of fame for idiots" ? Ann Coulter sure would fit in there. I never heared of her before untill I read some of her quotes at submunition.com. Some examples:

“We hate them. Americans don't want to make Islamic fanatics love us. We want to make them die. There's nothing like horrendous physical pain to quell anger. Japanese Kamikazes pilots hated us once, too. A couple of well-aimed nuclear weapons got their attention. Now they are gentle little lambs.”

“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.”

“We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors.”

David Lynch's Mulholland Drive competed with Memento for the illustrious honor of Most Talked About Film of 2001. But even more so than Christopher Nolan's time-bending existential thriller, Mulholland Drive proved to be a difficult subject to capture on the page. The movie's symbols, allusions and mind-warping structure come at you so quickly and, sometimes, peripherally that it can be hard to be sure just what you saw, and harder still to recall it well enough to piece it all together afterward. We will choose the submissions by which we are the most inspired, write songs about them, and post them here for you to listen to in the songs section.

Following the 1991 breakup of the seminal trio Galaxie 500, drummer Damon Krukowski and bassist Naomi Yang planned to retire from music; stung by the group's bitter disintegration and left without a label due to the bankruptcy of Rough Trade, after issuing a lone 1991 EP under the name Pierre Etoile, the couple opted to concentrate on running Exact Change, the small surrealist publishing house they founded the year prior. Occasionally, however, they dragged their instruments out of mothballs and wrote songs; soon, producer Kramer, who earlier helmed all three of the Galaxie 500 records, contacted the duo about cutting their new material for his label, Shimmy Disc. After repeatedly turning down the offer, Krukowski and Yang finally agreed, and travelled to Kramer's Noise New Jersey studios to begin recording. More

VLADISLAV DELAY is the most exciting new artist in the scandinavian electronic scene since PAN SONIC. After his releases on labels like SIGMA, MAX ERNST and CHAIN REACTION 'ENTAIN.' is his first album on MILLE PLATEAUX. 'ENTAIN' delivers two tracks from his debut album 'ele' on SIGMA plus two brand new tracks. The album goes towards and beyond design, the audiovisual dreams and lifestyle accessoires. Like some others artists on MILLE PLATEAUX DELAY is working with the most unessentialist sounds ever, clicks and glitches, fragmented cuts, but is giving the music such an unexpected and fascinating flow, which hasn't been heard in electronic music for years.

Potato is the first system for selling and reselling mp3 files. When you register at Potato and pay for a download, you also get a personal link, to place on your webpage. If someone buys a track from your webpage, you get a certain percentage but also the artist.

I hope I was able to explain it. Better read the the project homepage, which is in german and englisch. Potato is a cooperation between 4FO AG and the "Fraunhofer-Institut für Digitale Medientechnologie". "MP3" was also invented at the "Frauenhofer Institut".

It's true... everything is possible in the USA. What's next "Christian Couterstrike Players"? I allready googled for that term, but there arent any christian Counterstrike players (yet)

The CPPA is a group of Christian paintball players that desire to advance the Kingdom of God by taking the Gospel to the paintball community by being a living example of God's word and sharing Jesus with others as they are presented with opportunities to do so. CPPA players also strive to help paintball return to being a wholesome atmosphere. CPPA members believe that the industry driven mindset that you have to be offensive to be extreme is incorrect. CPPA members do not approve of cursing or vulgar gestures in paintball media. CPPA members believe paintball products should not be named after dark religions or the devil. CPPA members also desire to reach the paintball community

Kieran Hebden is one of those impressive young geniuses whose creative juices flow like Mount Vesuvius. At 17, he co-founded the outstanding post-rock outfit Fridge, and by the following year, had already released an acclaimed solo record as Four Tet. Since then, he's managed to keep both projects going strong. Both acts forge a middle ground between "pure" electronic music and "post-rock," with Fridge tending more toward post-rock and Four Tet toward electronic. Four Tet's combination of acoustic and electronic elements sounds fresh and unique, particularly at a time when so much electronic music is conceived and produced without ever leaving the digital realm. With its extensive use of field recordings and acoustic samples, Four Tet's music sounds truly organic and alive. More

The Melbourne based duo of Fox and Pateras have become quite renowned over the last couple of years via their strange, though entertaining improvisational electro acoustic performances, in which Fox utilises Pateras as his sound source, and in real time treats and manipulates him electronically. Utilising discarded piano frames, contact mics, undisclosed objects, and vintage synths that are then deconstructed/enhanced/disturbed via Fox’s computer processing, the resultant sounds are a strange often ill fitting mesh between the two worlds.More

"Made live with a Theremin and some microphones, sculpted real time in a New York loft in December 2003, the fat wood vibrating in the floor and the roof, resonating memories of those Chinese sweatshops that used to pound and clatter between aromas of stir fried noodles and hard Cantonese banter." Portable (aka Alan Abrahams) emerged out of the ruins of a post-apartheid era. He grew up in the impoverished Cape Town township, Bonteheuwel (Bounty Valley) aka "Beverly Hills".

As a teenager in the late eighties, he would spend time at makeshift shebeens (illegal bars) that doubled as clubs. At shebeens, DJs, despite apartheid sanctions, managed to find tunes like the Master C+J's "Dub Love", the Housemaster Boys' "Housenation"and Adonis' "No Way Back." The raw basement feel of these tracks would have an impact on the music Portable would later produce. More

A journey into the micro geography of vinyl records.

The video is the product of examining, in micro detail the record groove of a self made vinyl flexidisk. The acoustic geography animation featured in video has been produced from a computer generated model of the groove terrain using a scan of one portion of this platter. The video and audio replicate a rotational motion of half a revolution per minute. The audio is also syncronised to the groove terrain. The design of this workis intended as a preparitory sketch prior to The artist completing the final installation work which uses a 40/1640x EPI microscope and video projector to present the journey along the groove in real time. "Remember that pricey Superbowl ad for Pepsi, the one that promised to give away 100 million iTunes songs to consumers who found a winning message under Pepsi bottle caps? Maybe Pepsi should have tested the concept before they shelled out millions on the Superbowl ad. In the last week, people have been complaining that the sugary soda is responsible for erasing the ink on the inside of the bottle caps making it impossible to tell if they've won or not." More
