I've read the book a few month ago, but haven't seen the movie yet. I am not sure if it already started in Germany. NPR has a good review of the movie adaption of The Road. According to the review, the movie is only based on the book. It's a very bleak movie, but judging from what I've seen from the trailer, it's not as bleak as the book itself.

The setting of the books reminds me of the game Fallout 3, a few people created The Road trailers using the game. The videos aren't particularly god, but still a god idea. Someone should do a whole remake of the movie using Fallout 3.
