philipsamartzis.com: "Melbourne, Australia-based musician Philip Samartzis uses the sounds of the everyday to make his meticulously crafted music, but they are not necessarily the sounds of his own everyday life. Beginning in the mid-‘90s, Samartzis has periodically acted as a kind of sonic voyeur, collecting field recordings from various parts of the world, including France, the Netherlands, Japan, and Denmark, which then form the building blocks of his work." excentrica: "The second release of Musica Excentrica is an 80-minutes deep journey into the fantastic sound of Philip Samartzis and Nikita Golyshev recorded during live show in Yaroslavl." Download here

wikipedia.org: "Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 1962 in Tromsø, Norway), a musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his "ambient techno" then "arctic ambient" styles, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His track "Novelty Waves" was used for the 1995 campaign of Levi's. His 1997 album Substrata is generally seen as one of the all time classic ambient albums." More

upsettherhythm.co.uk: "T.I.T.S are the four ladies of San Francisco, the quartet play their trade in a kind of witchy / experimental / spaced-out / doom-laden pop, which could easily evoke reminiscences as diverse as Sabbath or Erase Errata or The Troggs or Boris maybe?

The T.I.T.S sound is underpinned by Mary's black-metal bass lines and Wendy's totally animal drum pound. Abbey's guitar lays down a simple rock riff, while Kim's emits a subtly oscillating sheet of feedback. Over the top, all four harmonise with a kind of semi-operatic, fantasy whisper. The effect is this inexplicable feel of time-travelling castle metal – of four ladies of the lake casting forth a single Excalibur, sinking it into stone so deep, no Arthur shall ever wield it. Ever."

upsettherhythm.co.uk/: "Leopard Leg is Maya-Victoria, Moreen, Blue, Emma, Aymie, Christina, Victoria, Rowan, Robyn, Gayle & Miranda - a 10+ piece all-girl drum troupe from London and Brighton.

Ploughing that narrow furrow between chaotic abandon and calm self-control, their epic incantations swing from hushed sea shanties one minute to free-noise racket the next.

While at least 8 members concentrate on drums and voice, producing primal, interlocking rounds and rhythms, the band augments their sound with an ever-growing array of guitars, violins, bowed saws, sheet metal and singing tubes.

Since their inception in June 2005, Leopard Leg's ever-evolving, all-consuming live show has illuminated stages across the land, on tour with Liars and supporting such greats as Afrirampo, Wolf Eyes, Asva, Burning Star Core and Prurient." More

boomkat.com "this is yet another extended record of gorgeous ambient/drone rock passages perfect for contemplative moments or summer evenings. Oneiromancer apparently means ‘someone who divines through the interpretation of dreams’ and this works as a great title to the album, which gives one of the best representations of a dreamlike state I can imagine. All hazy textures and smudged guitar drones it conjures up a fuzzy half-seen view, vague nostalgic memories and unearths feelings long forgotten. Again this is sure to appeal to fans of Bark Psychosis, Talk Talk, Labradford, Stars of the Lid and Windy & Carl" Read the whole review and listen to some samples here

James Figurine: "In November of 2001 my band Figurine went on a short tour of Germany with Lali Puna. Our label there, Monika, set us up with a driver to get from show to show. She only brought three or four tapes to listen to on the drives, mostly techno. I’d never paid much attention to dancefloor oriented electronic music, but listening to the same tapes over and over again (especially Kompakt’s pop-leaning Total 3 and some 7”s on Parfum) while driving through Germany made a giant impression on me." allmusic.com "Smegma's roots lie in the Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) scene of the mid-1970s, and yet this long-running avant-rock collective, are one of the few groups from that era that are still active today. With the musicians hidden behind ridiculous pseudonyms, Smegma offered a strange psychedelic improvisational music, throwing in all sorts of odd instruments as well as tapes, and turntables. The group began in Pasadena, California in 1973 as a reaction to the bloated fusion rock of the day. They were unaware that other nearby groups had also formed to perform similar freeform experimental music. " More
