Review from Wire, August 2004:
Normal Music have a very nice take on glitch, as evidenced on Brev (Zero Moon 3" CD), their way of subverting the autonomy of beat regularity, as well as their approach to the dubly layering of various analogue and digital noises, put them far ahead of a largely sleepy herd. The basics here get so cracked at times that I imagine this'd be capable of breaking people's bones on the dance floor if played at the right time and volume. Cool! - Bryon Coley

Asian Dub Foundation are 21st century MIDI warriors. Their distinctive sound is a combination of hard ragga-jungle rhythms, indo-dub basslines, searing sitar- inspired guitars and 'traditional' sounds gleaned from their parents' record collections, shot through with fast-chat conscious lyrics.

They started off in 1993 at London based organisation Community Music where bassist Dr Das taught music technology. He teamed up with one of his students, rapper Deeder Zaman and civil rights worker DJ Pandit G to form a sound system to play at anti-racist gigs. The following year they recruited guitarist Chandrasonic and started moving further afield. With Sun-J joining in 1995 on live technology and 'radical movements,' the line up was complete.More

Hang on the Box were Chinas first all riot grrl band. Nowadays they seem to think more about the music then about the line up and hired a man boy for their band. Due to the "punk" hype in the western countries during the nineties there sound is (at least to my ears) very harmless, but Chinese authorities said the band were "an inappropriate representation of Chinese culture", through the band's live act, and song titles such as ’For Some Stupid Cunts At "BBS"’, and ’Ass Hole, I'm Not Your Baby’ and denied the band visas to travel to the UK in 2003.

The alternative country band Wilco rose from the ashes of the seminal roots rockers Uncle Tupelo, who disbanded in 1994. While Jay Farrar, one of the group's two singer/songwriters, went on to form the band Son Volt, his ex-partner Jeff Tweedy established Wilco along with the remaining members of Tupelo's final incarnation, which included drummer Ken Coomer as well as part-time bandmates John Stirratt (bass) and Max Johnston (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, and lap steel).
