Brutum Fulmen is an experimental noise project producing mainly studio recordings. The main method of working is first to digitally record found sounds, sounds extract from non-musical objects, field recordings, and electronic feedback. These are then manipulated and arranged into finished pieces on computer.
For the infrequent live show, we do not employ samplers, computers, or pre-recorded backing tapes -- the sounds are created on the spot. Live "instruments" have been mic'd metal objects, electronic feedback setups, and misused tape decks.
For over 14 years, the Boredoms have been pummelling the minds of unsuspecting listeners with their blend of spastic noise and psychedelia. After releasing a series of cassettes and EPs in their native Japan during the '80s, the Boredoms began to attract the attention of an international audience. In 1989 Kramer?s Shimmy Disc label released the band's first U.S. CD, Soul Discharge. Soon after, the Boredoms signed to Warner Brothers in Japan. But it wasn't until 1993 that the Boredoms released their first U.S. major label record, Pop-Tari, thanks in large part to the support of Sonic Youth and Nirvana. After that album and 1994?s Chocolate Synthesizer, the Boredoms lost their major label backing, and most of their albums since have been available only in Japan. Read more at Epitonic.com
